Summer is coming, and it’s time to start thinking about that summer road trip. I love driving around Michigan in the summer and seeing new places that I’ve never seen before. This state is simply beautiful, and summer is my favorite time to explore it.

Michigan turns out to be home to one of the best places to travel in June, according to a new article from TravelandLeisure.com. They only picked 13 places to highlight, so it’s great that Michigan made the list.

So, what is the place of reception? Mackinac Island. “This charming island destination is opening its doors for the summer season and the lilacs are blooming,” the publication said. “The festival honoring the fragrant flowers runs from June 3 to 12, with a 10 km race and a grand parade. There are no cars on the island, a real plus this year, and visitors get around by bike, horse-drawn carriage or on foot.

They add, “It’s a romantic destination for couples and fun for families with boating, fishing, exploring and more. A range of accommodations includes hotels, bed and breakfasts, cabins, condos and classic resorts. The family-owned and operated Mission Point Resort is located on 18 waterfront acres with six restaurants, a spa and a variety of activities. The historic Grand Hotel offers rooms, suites, and the four-bedroom Masco Cottage, as well as a spa, salon, and golf on The Jewel. Count on me. Some of the other destinations on the list were as far away as Alaska and the UK, so might as well enjoy a little piece of paradise close to home. Find the full list here.
