Off the Map Travel has created a new way for travelers to immerse themselves in Iceland.
The adventure specialists, known for their bespoke itineraries to faraway destinations, have just launched a new luxury tour that includes a few nights in an incredible glass lodge in the country’s beautiful Southern Highlands.
The aptly named Panorama Glass Lodge Escape is designed to bring the magic of the outdoors. The four-day experience begins with two nights in one of four glass pavilions located just an hour and a half from Reykjavik and also includes guided tours in a handful of Iceland. breathtaking natural wonders.
Named after characters from Norse mythology, the pavilions can each sleep two people in a bespoke king-size bed and are fitted with a fully equipped kitchen and en-suite bathroom with rain shower. Inside, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Northern Lights, Hekla Volcano, and the vast Arctic tundra. Since the area is remote and free from light pollution, you can also participate in stargazing.
To top it off, you will have access to a private sauna and hot tub where you can relax and unwind surrounded by nature. As a bonus, the eco-friendly lodges are heated with sustainable electricity while a nearby spring provides fresh water.
“These lodges are the epitome of escapism,” Jonny Cooper, founder of Off the Map Travel, said in a statement. “This is the first time the lodges have been included in a travel experience that brings together everything the guest needs, from transfers to locally guided activities.”
Speaking of activities, you will have the opportunity to tackle the famous Golden Circle. This 300km route features three of Iceland’s most popular natural attractions: Thingvellir National Park, Geysir Geothermal Area and Gullfoss Waterfall. You’ll also embark on a snowmobile adventure to a glacier, visit the south coast ice caves, and snorkel in the Blue Lagoon. During the last two days you will explore the Icelandic capital Reykjavik and spend the last night in a luxury hotel.
Available year-round, the Panorama Glass Lodge Escape is priced at $4,225 per person based on self-catering accommodation and two people traveling. Flights are extra. You can, of course, choose to extend or customize the trip with additional nights at the lodge or additional experiences.
