Finnair launches service to Helsinki from SEA Airport

New non-stop service uses the polar route for the shortest flight to mainland Europe

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) welcomed its latest new international service last night with Finnair’s inaugural service from Seattle to Helsinki. The flight’s shorter polar route offers easy access to the Nordic countries as well as efficient connections to destinations throughout Europe and beyond. In Seattle, passengers can connect to the extensive network offered by Finnair’s oneworld partner, Alaska Airlines.

“We are proud of the resilience of the Seattle market,” said Lance Lyttle, CEO of SEA Airport. “Finnair’s Helsinki service is SEA’s eighth new international service to launch since the start of the pandemic, and we are delighted to be able to welcome them to our brand new international arrivals facility.

With Alaska Airlines joining the oneworld alliance in 2021, Alaska Mileage Plan members will be able to earn and redeem frequent flyer miles across the Finnair network.

SEA Airport is making significant investments to make international travel via SEA more efficient and representative of our region. The newly opened international arrivals facility provides travelers with an expanded and more efficient experience to meet growing regional demand for international travel. The new facility is more than four times the size of the current facility and features an iconic skywalk that is the longest on an active traffic lane in the world!
